Your Good Skin Balancing Skin Concentrate Review

It’s no surprise that Boots is not only the UK’s number one beauty mecca but also a creator of great skincare. Enter Your Good Skin, the pharmacy’s first brand in 15 years, which has been developed with the help of Boots customers, cosmetic scientists, and dermatologists.

Dr. Mike Bell, Skincare Scientific Expert, Boots UK, who led the development of YourGoodSkinTM comments:

“Our research shows that women want consistently healthy looking skin but achieving this can be difficult when everyday life factors such as air pollution, temperature change, hormone change, stress or tiredness can cause the skin to become unbalanced.

Our solution was to develop the ultimate skincare hack: a range of products to deliver visibly healthier skin in just 28 days. The hero of the range, YourGoodSkinTM Balancing Skin Concentrate, restores and maintains skin’s natural balance and is clinically proven to deliver visibly healthier skin in five different ways – skin texture, skin tone, radiance, oiliness and moisture levels – starting the journey to #GoodSkinForLife and putting an end to bad skin days.”

Just like No.7, Your Good Skin’s efficacy is proven by some impressive clinical trial results that promise to improve the appearance and health of your skin in just 28 days. Unlike No.7 it isn’t an anti-aging range, instead, its goal is to re-balance skin and settle any issues like excessive oiliness or uneven skin tone and texture.

The range was created in co-collaboration with Derms, scientists, and real women. Yes, you read that right. Over 2500 real women shared experiences of their skincare problems, worries, and concerns with the Boot’s team giving them vital insight that inspired the product formulations. Your Good Skin is as affordable as you’d expect. There are 23 products in total; from cleansers to masks, face washes, serums and night creams.

Balancing Skin Concentrate

The hero is the Balancing Skin Concentrate, which is ‘clinically proven to deliver healthier looking skin in 5 areas: skin texture, skin tone, radiance, oiliness and moisture levels,’ says Dr. Mike Bell the Boots Scientist who formulated the range.

Powerful ingredients

The Balancing Skin Concentrate’s secret is a mix of powerful ingredients, which are designed to optimise skin condition by addressing the reasons for skin imbalance:

  • The unique multi-action antioxidant complex contains Green tea, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and lipochroman known to help fight oxidative stress
  • Japanese Lily Turf root extract helps to visibly improve the appearance of skin’s condition and the complexion
  • Sphinganine, a naturally occurring oil that is bio-identical to lipids found in the skin, helps to combat skin oiliness

The YourGoodSkinTM Community who helped co-create the Balancing Skin Concentrate have already seen powerful results.

As with most serums on the market, the Concentrate has a multi-action antioxidant complex to help defend your skin against environmental aggressors. The point of difference though is the use of Japanese lily turf root, which smoothes out your skin tone and brightens. In the same way that No.7 was backed up with clinical data, the Concentrate has been road tested on real women and been put it under the scrutiny of scientists. And, in just 28 days the formula promises to rehydrate and rebalance your skin.

Packaging

I’m a sucker for good packaging and this one is a show stealer for me. I love the unique 30 ml plastic bottle that’s transparent from outside and the actual contents are in a white and gold bottle inside. The pump head is a life saver as it is very convenient to directly pump out the product on your face. Plus there’s no risk of contamination due to the pump head.

Consistency & color

While the range is affordable, the concentrate is so lightweight you could slip it into your existing routine without issue if you’re not in the market for a new cleanser or moisturizer. The serum itself is white in color.

Texture & Scent

The texture is also light, but hydrating and the scent is inoffensive.

Results

But is it really worth it? In a world where products are designed for Instagram, this gold-and-white bottle isn’t exactly iPhone fodder, but when it comes to skincare, you really shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

I’ve been using it since the end of October and have noticed that my skin isn’t as dry as it usually would be with the change of season. While I wouldn’t go as far as to say it has radically changed my skin, I firmly believe that this is a highly effective product if used daily along with proper water intake, a balanced diet, and proper sleeping pattern.

I’ll have to admit that in the face of these impressive claims, I was skeptical. Could a serum really do all of that? But, after 28 days of using the concentrate, my skin felt noticeably softer, smoother and looked more glowy too. So far, so good.

Bell explains that this hero product “restores and maintains skin’s natural balance and is clinically proven to deliver visibly healthier skin in five different ways—skin texture, skin tone, radiance, oiliness and moisture levels.”

My Verdict

I’m a total skincare snob, I’ll happily admit that. If it doesn’t come from a doctor’s office, then it takes a lot to impress me, but I’ve been using this concentrate for a few weeks now, and it’s been a great addition to my routine. My skin looks glowing and clear, and I’m now less reliant on my foundation than I have been in years. I can’t say it’s 100% down to this concentrate, but I’m not about to give it up and find out.

YourGoodSkinTM Balancing Skin Concentrate costs AED 115, SAR 115 and is available exclusively at Boots Pharmacy across UAE and KSA.
