Hello Darlings! I know I haven’t been so active on my blog lately but I’ve been busy testing out and reviewing some very innovative and interesting Skincare and Cosmetic products on my Instagram since not many people enjoy reading lengthy reviews so I’ll try to keep my reviews very basic from now on.
I was looking for a new deeply hydrating facial mask since I ran out of my Pixi Beauty Hydrating Sheet Masks. And all the face masks currently in my vanity are either charcoal-based Mud Masks like the Pix Beauty Glow Mud Mask or the GlamGlow Super Mud. These masks are ideal for deeply cleansing the skin and I swear by them but I realized that I needed something for hydration as well. I’m a sucker for trying new things so when I attended the Sephora Multi-brand Summer Event, I was introduced to the Origins New Look but Same Great Formulas Masks. When I received these Masks for a review, I was elated with joy. to test them.
The Drink Up 10-Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water and Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask with Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water have debuted a fresh new look and an updated formulation. I’m glad that Origins maintained that minimalist aesthetic and love the tubes are now made of a clear, tinted material! This way, you can see exactly how much product you have left and know when you’re due for a repurchase.
The new ingredients are very promising: the Swiss Glacier Water delivers the hydration which is held in place by the inclusion of Hyaluronic Acid, and Apricot Kernel Oil and Avocado Oil as nourishing occlusives. It also now contains Niacinamide (listed fifth on the ingredients list) which excites me because it’s a do-all ingredient for brightening, anti-aging, and even oil control.
The new Drink Up 10-Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water promises instant hydration. It also has the Swiss Glacier Water, Apricot Kernel Oil, and Hyaluronic Acid but what jumped out at me was the squalane listed fourth on the ingredients list! This lightweight and non-greasy oil is a fave for many skincare enthusiasts because of how it quickly absorbs into the skin. And you literally feel as if you have water on your skin because it’s that lightweight.
The Drink Up 10 Minute Hydrating Mask with Apricot & Swiss Glacier Water should be applied to clean, dry skin. You should leave this on the skin for about ten minutes, and then remove the excess with a tissue. After removing the excess mask then continue with your normal skincare routine. It’s easier to use than a sheet mask: it doesn’t look too obvious that you have anything on your face, and the only waste created is a tissue to wipe off the excess. So yeah, I am mildly obsessed with this mask. I don’t even bother to use a tissue as I feel it gets absorbed into my skin and it doesn’t feel sticky or greasy at all so there’s no need for me to wipe off. If you are not comfortable with that then you can rinse off your face.
Now, I don’t usually like scented products but I really enjoyed the fresh apricot scent of this mask! The rich creamy texture felt good on my skin, and after the mask was wiped off, my skin was pleasantly soft and bouncy.
The texture of the 10-minute mask is much lighter than the overnight one, and it feels like it doesn’t sink into my skin as deeply as the overnight mask but I’m not complaining at all. I think that’s really the difference between the two masks – this one is quick fix hydration while Intensive slowly but thoroughly works its way down the layers. This formula promises 24 hours of hydration though; if you don’t have time to do several steps of skincare in the morning, you can slap this mask on while you get on with other preps then just tissue off the excess before doing your makeup. This Mask is perfect for Makeup Artists because instead of carrying a bunch of sheet masks for their clients, they can just pop this tube into their train case and save on space.
The Drink Up Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask has a juicy citrusy smell that I love. I also love the fact that this formula feels a bit thicker than a moisturizer hence it takes a bit longer to absorb. The best part is that it doesn’t leave behind any white-colored residue on your face as most of the masks do. So this property makes it a very travel-friendly Mask that you can also apply on a flight and not feel awkward.
It has a smoother, more luxurious texture that gives my skin a dewy sheen. I tried this mask and left in on my face overnight and I rinsed it off the next morning. My skin felt deeply moisturized which I totally needed. I enjoyed the subtle glow it gave my skin. Origins says that this can give up to 72 hours of non-stop hydration and I don’t doubt that because my face usually feels very dry and stretchy after a facewash and I have to apply a moisturizer immediately. But after using this mask overnight, I forgot to apply my moisturizer the next morning in a rush and my skin didn’t feel stretchy at all. In fact, I did feel my skin to be very plump and glowy for up to 3 days.
As much as I love these masks, I feel I should point out that they contain essential oils that contribute to the skincare benefits and natural fragrance of the products. My skin is okay with them but they may trigger a reaction in extremely sensitive skin. If you’re not sure about your skin’s reaction, then always ask for testers first.
I know that they seem quite pricey but they come out so much more cost-efficient when you do the math! You can buy up to 16 pieces of a cheap sheet mask for the same price as the 10-minute Drink Up, but you get a lot more uses out of the tube. This is also a more eco-friendly option, as Origins uses very minimal packaging and opts for materials made from recycled content. The brand is also working towards a net-zero carbon emission by next year, in addition to supporting reforestation projects worldwide. So if you are looking for ways to make your beauty routine more sustainable, do consider this tube packaging instead of single-use masks. As always, these masks are formulatedwithout unwanted Parabens, Petroleum, MineralOil, Phthalates and so much more.
I would personally recommend this to all the Brides to be for that special wedding glow and also to the Models who do Photoshoots. It is also ideal for the Cabin Crew and frequent travelers because your skin feels as if you’ve had 2 liters of water and 8 hours of uninterrupted Sleep.
