Valentine’s Day Couple’s Treatment at Soul Wellness Spa

Valentine’s Day is coming! There’s nothing like a commercial holiday to put totally unnecessary and undue pressure on a relationship. Good news is, we can reclaim these so-called holidays, and craft them to be special in our own ways. This year, I decided to go to the spa. I go to the spa anyway, but it’s a good excuse for me to bring Mr. A with me, as there is nothing more satisfying than the feeling that your significant other is also being pampered at the same time.  Plus it’s the one thing that we both can agree on and enjoy together.

We had an early start to Valentine’s when I decided to surprise Mr. A with a rejuvenating Couple’s massage treatment courtesy Soul Wellness Spa at Sheraton Grand Dubai. The Valentine Couple’s treatment was for 2hrs 30minutes and included:

  • 60-minute massage – choice of either Swedish, Balinese or Soul Spa Signature massage
  • Usage of the private Jacuzzi in the couple’s treatment room for 60-minutes
  • Lunch from Soul Wellness & Spa Food Menu

When we arrived, we were greeted by the attentive staff. The healthy detox welcome drinks were served in the guest lounge, while we filled our questionnaires.

Then our therapists took us to relish the benefits of tranquility and complete privacy in our private spa suite. The spa suite is perfect for sharing indulgent relaxation time with a friend or loved one, consisting of two treatment beds, a jetted tub, private toilet and shower room. Everything in our room was so romantic, with rose petals spread across the room and there was a private jacuzzi which was also filled with rose petals and artificial candles for safety reasons, which further enhanced the mood. I was very pleased to see the gorgeous arrangements and it automatically relaxed both of us.

First, we were both treated with a foot bath and were made to choose our massage oils according to our taste and preference.

We both opted for eucalyptus based oil since our motive was to relax and de-stress our muscles. Then the muscle-relaxing aromatherapy oil was slathered on my body and we were even made to inhale the oil to relax. The therapist worked on loosening the tense muscles in the back of my head, neck, back, limbs and feet. On my request, the therapist focused on undoing the knots in my shoulders with precise and strong repetitive movements. At the end of our session, we felt rejuvenated (we both dozed off during the treatment!)

After an hour of bliss, our therapists left us so that we could use the Jacuzzi for 60 minutes. We were then ushered to the relaxation room for our healthy lunch. Mr. A chose to order grilled Salmon whereas I ordered a gluten-free shrimp Pasta. For drinks, we ordered Pomegranate juice and banana smoothie.

On the whole, we loved the whole experience. Our therapists knew their job really well and they used just the right amount of medium pressure to knead out knots. The spa is a quiet sanctuary despite its location in the heart of the city and has great facilities such as steam rooms, sauna, and jacuzzi (there are separate facilities for men and women). The Spa has 4 men treatment rooms and 5 women treatment rooms. The service was excellent and the beautiful view from the 52nd floor was the icing on the cake for me.
