Nip + Fab Viper Venom Extreme Night Fix Review

Today’s post is a review of a new night cream that I’ve been using! I was really excited to order this product from BasharaCare but after using it, I have mixed feelings about it.

About Nip & Fab

“ Accessible, affordable + effective. Nip + Fab was created for a woman who wants it all.”

Nip + Fab is a company that makes skincare and body products and it was founded by Maria Hatzistefanis (founder of Rodial). They say their products are created to deal with specific issues with body skin and face. The products have ‘innovative and natural advanced skin smoothing, boosting and firming ingredients.’
In UAE, Nip & Fab isn’t available in Department stores but it is available online on BasharaCare.

They do not test on animals but they are not vegan-friendly as they do use bee products.

The NIP + FAB  Viper Venom Night Extreme Night Fix is what I have been using as a night cream for the past three weeks. According to the Nip + Fab website,  this night fix is “a powerful night cream specially formulated with encapsulated time release retinol + SYN®-AKE, to reduce the appearance of fine lines + wrinkles + retexture skin, whilst you sleep. Hyaluronic acid provides long-term hydration + an intensive plumping effect. Awake to smoother looking skin with a renewed youthful glow.”

Product Details

Powerful Viper Venom Extreme Night Fix goes where few creams dare to venture. deep into skin’s epidermis, for intensive repair while you sleep. This night cream with retinol is formulated with encapsulated time release retinol for rapid exfoliation and SYN-AKE, a neuropeptide which inhibits muscle contractions and provides a mild Botox-like effect. This potent night cream includes hyaluronic acid for deep, lasting hydration and intensive plumping, visibly softening lines and wrinkles so you wake to smoother looking skin with a youthful glow. Apply nightly to clean face and neck. 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml.

Nip+Fab Viper Venom Extreme Night Fix features a lightweight, gel-like texture that’s a mix between a cream and a serum. It absorbs into the skin immediately and helps to rejuvenate the appearance of dry, dull skin. It applies evenly and smoothly and covers the entire face and neck with only a small dime size amount. It doesn’t feel thick, heavy or greasy, nor does it clog pores or cause breakouts. It helps to instantly replenish moisture loss and keep skin hydrated the entire night.

This came in a plastic screw top pot with a cardboard outer box which was predominantly green and had the ingredients and product name etc on the cardboard. I personally don’t like screw top jars due to hygienic reasons. You have to ensure your finger is really clean when applying this so you don’t contaminate the product.

The reason behind the interesting names

The founder of Nip & Fab says that they like to play with the names of the products:
“We have Snake Serum, Dragon’s Blood and Bee Venom. They are all very safe but we like to play with the names of our ingredients to create a talking point.”

This Viper venon actually uses a synthetic +SYN-AKE product and not snake venom as its active ingredient. It also has ‘encapsulated time release retinol’ and these two ingredients are the magic power that is supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, retexture skin, while you sleep.
They also have added Sodium Hyaluronic acid to give long term hydration + an intensive plumping effect.
They say you will “Awake to smoother looking skin with a renewed youthful glow.”
Finally, they have added vitamin A which helps to stimulate collagen production.

Texture and smell

The Extreme Night Fix contains Retinol, a great ingredient in the fight against skin aging, which also resurfaces the skin to reveal newer, smoother skin cells beneath. Really the selling point for me was the Hyaluronic Acid in here, which is a star ingredient when it comes to keeping skin moisturized. This is a gel like texture more than a cream, which is really cooling and soothing to apply, and sinks in nicely and leaves no residue behind. It smells amazing, very fresh and almost citrus like, but for those who aren’t a fan of scented skincare, the smell doesn’t last long after you have applied.

Is it a mask or a moisturizer?

I’m very confused when it comes to describing this product. It is not mentioned anywhere if it’s a moisturizer or a mask. It has only been referred to as a gel. I tried applying it as a night cream right after using the Nip + Fab Glycolic fix Night Pads Extreme, but my skin didn’t feel as hydrated as it does when I use other good night creams such as Elemis or Clarins. Then I started using it before my night cream and that was better than using it on its own. But as I was researching about the glycolic acid exfoliating pads, I read somewhere that retinols shouldn’t be used with glycolic acid pads.

When I further researched on this topic, I found out that it’s a mere myth that Retinols and acids (AHA’s and BHA’s) both exfoliate and therefore are too strong for the skin when used together. Whereas the fact is that they work on different levels of the skin.
Acids take care of the top layers and get rid of all the old dusty skin, a bit like dusting your furniture. They exfoliate.
Retinols work at a deeper layer – never the two shall meet. The acid holds the door open for the retinols to pass by…Retinols are cell communicators. If you are flaking or peeling when using a vitamin A product – you may want to reconsider – it’s possibly too strong for you.

To be honest, I haven’t experienced any difference in my skin after using this. It might be because initially I was using it as a night cream but it was drying me up. My skin didn’t feel hydrated or plumped. Although it was clear and no breakouts due to the use of glycolic acid pads, other than that I didn’t notice anything. Then I started using it only on alternate nights before my night cream and after using the glycolic pads. That was better. This doesn’t mean that the product isn’t good. Anything with Retinol takes at least three to six months to show results. Since I’ve been using these for three weeks only, it will be unfair to give my verdict at this point. But since I’ve been asked to post my review within a month, hence I have to post it.

It is available online on BasharaCare. I do feel it is over priced at AED 159 for a 50 ml jar.
