Elemis Pro-Definition Facial Oil Review

I am a massive fan of facial oils as they really make a big difference to my skin and the way it looks. They are the most natural thing you could apply to your face as they don’t contain harmful ingredients you will find in the high-street face moisturizers. Although they seem expensive, they last for ages as you don’t need to apply much. Just in case you wondered, they are suitable even for oily skin as they help to regulate sebum production.

Which is the right Oil For You

Oils can work really well for all skin types. The right one for you should sink in nicely with a little facial massage and be absorbed by morning; if it just sits on the skin, it’s probably too heavy. But most are best applied at night to give them time to sink in and to prevent a messy make-up slip ‘n’ slide. Like serums, they tend to be expensive across the board due to their focus on pure, natural ingredients, but their potency means that a bottle lasts much longer than you might expect.

I have a combination skin with areas on my face prone to dryness even in summers. The facial oil that I currently own is the Elemis Pro-Definition Facial Oil which is described as skin’s strength in a bottle because it supports the architecture of a mature complexion with stem cell technology that harnesses the power of nature’s most resilient plant life.

The Pro-Definition Facial Oil helps create contour definition and lift around the jaw line, nose and brow. The oil features stem cell technology to help support the architecture of the skin.

Key ingredients

  • Raspberry plant stem cell extract
  • Organic Barbary fig oil
  • Evening primrose oil
  • Himalayan gentian

The key active ingredient is Raspberry Plant Stem Cell Extract, which is a blend of carotenoids, lipids, and phenolic acids, which have been shown to have both short and long term hydration benefits, helping to protect the skin from drying out. Another powerful plant found in this oil is Himalayan Gentian, a traditional Ayurvedic herb that can survive the harsh conditions of high altitudes where the climate is warm during the day and cool at night.

Himalayan Gentian Extract smoothes and hydrates skin to help vertical lines appear less obvious while regenerating skin texture, and leaving it nourished and resilient. Organic Barbary Fig Oil intensely nourishes and protects against free radicals, thanks to its high content of vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Evening Primrose Oil is added to help reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, while an aromatic blend of Clary Sage, Palmarosa, and Frankincense soothes and calms the mind.

In independent user trials, the brand says 80% agreed their skin looked visibly firmer and lifted.

It is advised to massage 3-4 drops over the face and neck every morning and evening before serum and/or moisturizer. But since I’m in my early 30s and my skin is not so mature at this age so I use it only once every night before my night cream.

Texture & Smell

This finely textured oil is quickly and lightly absorbed, without leaving any unpleasant greasy residue. Unlike the other facial oils that sit on top of your skin.  Its unique, delicate texture makes it suitable for all skin types. This moisturizing oil is powered by a blend of potent ingredients, including a high percentage of essential fatty acids, and plant stem cells. This Oil smells delicious! The aroma alone makes you feel good.

I love the Elemis line and all of the products that I have tried. But this one is a must have. If you are going to buy only one facial product this is the one to have. It’s not heavy. It’s not oily. My skin glows and my laugh lines and frown lines are softer just after two weeks of use. I also noticed a gradual improvement in firmness and hydration. But I’m not sure if it’s entirely due to this facial oil as I have also been using the Elemis Hydra-Boost serum and the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 along with this oil daily.

My Verdict

I have tried many brands facial oils but I have never experienced such drastic results before. Most of them seem to lay on the skin and not absorb. Not only does this oil absorb easily for me and make my skin more comfortable but after only two weeks of use, my forehead lines are far less visible to the extent of almost disappearing as well as cheeks looking lifted and the laugh line isn’t as deep! So many people comment on me looking healthy and glowing. I have never experienced this type of result despite having used Elemis products for a long time and which I will not change – this is now my new favorite and just slots into my routine easily. A 15 ml bottle would cost you AED 586 and you can buy it from House of Fraser or online from BasharaCare.com. I know this is expensive but then if you look at the alternative methods of anti-aging like fillers and surgery then the price would make sense.
