Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream

Out of all of the moisturizers I’ve heard of, I don’t think there’s one I wanted to try out more than Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. This is Elemis’ best-selling and multi-award winning day cream. I heard about it from beauty YouTubers and when I heard the word “marine”, I was sold. I wanted one. So when I was approached by the Elemis Middle East Team to review some of their bestsellers, I was secretly wishing to receive this beauty. You can guess my excitement when I saw the 15 ml sample tube of Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

Product Description

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkle depth by up to 78%, and increase hydration and moisture levels by up to 45%. This powerful anti-ageing cream provides a progressive lifting effect through increased collagen support. The dynamic combination of the marine algae Padina Pavonica, Rose and Mimosa Absolutes, and Gingko Biloba Liposomes delivers visible results within 15 days.

Elemis have lots of proven research to back up the claims for their cream.

And very impressive it is, too. Independent trials found that after just two weeks use, participants saw up to 78% wrinkle depth reduction and a 45% increase in skin hydration. Two weeks is brilliant – with a lot of products you have to wait up to 12 weeks to see any visible results (by which time many of us have given up and moved on to something else).

Texture & Scent

This moisturizer has a light, almost whipped and creamy texture. It feels very good on the skin and absorbs quickly. It doesn’t leave my skin greasy or shiny and works as a good base for my makeup. I especially like the smell – it’s quite powerfully fragranced, but the scent is totally natural, and it makes me feel as though I’m giving myself a bit of a treat.

I’ve been using it for exactly two weeks now myself and while my results haven’t been quite that dramatic, I’m pretty pleased with them regardless. The fine lines on my forehead aren’t as obvious, my skin feels more plumped up and hydrated and I think my skin seems to be holding on to moisture better throughout the day. My (combo oily/dehydrated and acne prone!) face just loves this stuff.

I was worried about using a rich, anti-ageing cream in summer when I like a lighter texture on my skin. But Pro-Collagen Marine Cream surprised me – the texture is lovely and lightweight, despites its seriously heavyweight credentials. It’s a gel-cream that feels lovely and refreshing on my skin and is rapidly absorbed.

Lightweight moisturizer yet hydrating enough to be used as a night cream during the wintry months (for someone with combination skin), absorbs quickly, doesn’t leave the skin greasy.

It’s pricey for a moisturizer. I know the price will put a lot of people off but if you have been considering a skincare splurge then this is the product in which you should invest. A little goes a long way when it comes to this moisturizer.

My Verdict

I loved the Marine Cream from the moment it touched my skin. I had thought that it might be too rich, too heavy, because of the ‘anti-ageing’ nature of the product, but in fact, it was light and non-oily and it absorbed instantly into my skin. If you – like me – want a lighter anti-ageing cream that won’t overload your skin, then this one is gorgeous.

In my opinion, it’s a very good moisturizer. I’ve been using this in the morning and it kept my skin well-hydrated and supple throughout the day. If you have dry skin, this isn’t going to be rich enough for you to use in the evenings but daytime use should be all right. Folks with oily to combination and even dehydrated skin will like this one.

The Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is a bit of a cult product; it’s an all-singing, an all-suiting moisturizer that isn’t too rich but still packs a powerful punch, and for that, I think that it deserves maximum beauty respect.
